Multicultural Health an election sleeper - now becoming critical
Written by Administrator Wednesday, 01 September 2010 23:15
A new multicultural health alliance has emerged to take up critical questions ignored by major parties in the election. In the election health policy was one area that the ALP claimed as its own, only to be trumped on mental health by the Coalition commitment to a major upgrade in Federal investment. Neither of the major parties seems to be aware that the multicultural health sector is in crisis, or that their health priorities encompass but do not recognise pressing cultural diversity issues.

Tourism Australia's "Nothing Like Australia": too true!
Written by Administrator Monday, 31 May 2010 16:06
Tourism Australia's new upbeat jingle "Nothing Like Australia" "favourite places" tour of Australia manages to lose nearly all the ground just gained by the Brand Australia Unlimited promotion. In a beautifully shot travelogue of people's favourite places, we get the regulation Aboriginal boy in a billabong, and a Chinese Australian(?) girl strapped into the seat of an SUV amidst kangaroos. And that's it. So in the dozens of close ups of Australian faces, no Indians, Africans, Arabs, Pacific Islanders appear. And we are told it's the platform for the next five to ten years. Wow!
