Immigration debate continues to bubble as pro- and anti- argue it out

The Australian has offered its columns to supporters and opponents of the growth in immigration foreshadowed recently by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. The opponents argue that environment and infrastructure are too fragile and thin to support a rapid and major growth in immigration. Supporters see immigration as a major contributor to economic growth, and the problems in environmental and urban infrastructure management as political issues that need to be fixed whatever the immigration rate.
