Human Rights Consultation submissions now online

The National Human Rights Consultation aimed to seek a range of views from across Australia about the protection and promotion of human rights. The Consultation was run by an independent Committee, who were supported by a Secretariat in the Attorney-General’s Department. The National Human Rights Consultation has made all submissions available on line. The final Hearings (1-3 July) will also soon be available as online video.
Disability Studies Research Agenda open for collaboration

A number of Australian disability research, policy, politics and advocacy activities are contributing to calls to establish an Australian disability research agenda. Disability researchers attended a workshop on 2 April to discuss how to facilitate the development of a national disability research agenda. Other researchers who could not attend also expressed an interest in being involved.

Community Policing Partnership Program (CPPP) for 2009

The Australian Human Rights Commission (the Commission) has approved and funded 19 new projects under the first round of its Community Policing Partnership Program (CPPP).
The CPPP is a national initiative by the Commission's, in collaboration with the Australian Multicultural Foundation, that aims to build relationships and improve trust between Muslim communities and police at the local level.

Settlement Council goes online

The Settlement Council of Australia (SCOA) is the national peak body
representing migrant and refugee settlement agencies across Australia. SCOA operates as a network of settlement service providers. Its aim
is to bring settlement service providers together at a national level
in order to create cohesion amongst our members, and improve
collaborative and strategic planning processes for the settlement
sector.
